Exfoliation is necessary for the skin of your body as well

Most importantly, exfoliation has to be properly done on a regular basis and with gentle strokes. Too frequent or excessive exertion of force during cleansing will give rise to skin injury instead. This is especially so if the skin has a wound or is in a state of allergy. When this happens, stop the exfoliation regimen temporarily to avoid deterioration of the condition. As the elbows, knees, and other joint areas of the body are subject to frequent movements and constant friction with clothing we wear and are also usually exposed to the elements, they become the most prone to the accumulation of dirt and where the horny layer is the thickest. Such being the case, these parts need special cleansing attention during bathing or showering. That means exfoliation is a must and preferably followed up with application of a moisturizing lotion after cleansing, so that the skin on the joints will also stay clean, moist, and smooth to touch.

Unclogging the pores through exfoliation

Every time when new cells from the basal cell layer are produced, the existing cutins begin to age as they ascend to the horny layer, and then are shed off from the skin naturally. This process takes about 28 days. However, the aged cutins accumulated on the horny layer may not be shed off naturally if the makeup residue is glued to the skin due to reckless cleansing and aggressive oozing of sebum secretion caused by improper usage of skincare products or chronological ageing that slows down the metabolism. These accumulated aged cutins cause blockage and impede effective absorption of skincare nutrients resulting in rough skin and dull complexion. Therefore, a timely exfoliation not only restores clear complexion, it also promotes fairer skin!

How frequent should exfoliation be done?

Regular exfoliation can help restore a smooth and radiant skin, promote subcutaneous metabolism, and retard the ageing process. The question is: What is the appropriate frequency to give your skin a treat of exfoliation? With the use of Vcare Exfoliating Gel, once or twice a week should be ideal for normal skin. In the case of oily skin, as the production of cutin is much faster than normal or dry skin, stepping up the frequency to 3 times a week is advisable. As for combination skin, depending on your skin condition, exfoliation workout on the T-zone should be enhanced, since it is where the condition of oiliness is usually more obvious.
